Karachi: CID arrest 2 target killers
KARACHI: The Anti-Extremism Cell (AEC) of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two alleged target killers. SSP Mohammad Aslam Khan of the AEC Karachi said that acting on a tip-off that the suspects involved in a number of target killings were hiding in a house in the Risala area, he ordered a raid.
Early on Tuesday morning, AEC officials raided a house on Chand Bibi Road near Malik Bakery, Risala. On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire, which was retaliated. After the encounter, the police arrested the two men and recovered arms from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Jawed alias Kaka and Faisal alias Gandayree. Both are activists of a political party. During the interrogation, the two disclosed that in June 2005 they had targeted Imran Pasha and Aslam, activists of their rival political party, in the Bohra Pir area. They also admitted to murdering a man on Tahir Saifuddin Road, Lyari, during a wave of target killings in the city.
Moreover, the suspects were said to have attacked a police party that had carried out a raid for their arrest in the Risala area. In 2008 they attacked a police party near the Civil Hospital when police raided the area to arrest them but they managed to escape.
Both also admitted that they killed Kashif and Jaffer, two activists of their rival party, in the Risala area in 2011. They also confessed to murdering Haji Naveed and Saeed on Napier Road in 2011.
