SSP summoned in Karachi
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday ordered a senior police officer to appear in court and explain his position in a petition alleging that he demanded Rs1 million as a bribe from a financial consultant. The financial consultant, Muhammed Amir Riaz, filed a petition in the SHC against SSP retired Captain Chaudhry Asad Ali, his friend, retired Major Muhammad Aamer Khan and others for harassment.
He submitted that he was a financial consultant with the firm of retired Major Khan and the other respondents were directors and investors of the concern.
He stated that SSP Ali phoned him with his cellphone in November and December last year and threatened him of dire consequences if he did not pay him Rs1 million.
On Tuesday, a DSP appeared in court on behalf of the SSP and stated that the latter was unable to appear in court as he had proceeded on a departmental course.
