Islamabad: 7 gamblers among 12 criminals arrested
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police arrested 19 persons from various areas of the city for their alleged involvement in bootlegging, theft, gambling, possessing illegal weapons, and also recovered alcohol, weapons, money and looted items from their possession, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
Islamabad SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik directed all heads of police stations to intensify vigilance in the city and book those involved in anti-social activities. Koral Police Station SHO Sajjad Haider Bukhari conducted a raid on a gambling den near `Khana Pul’ and arrested seven gamblers besides recovering stake money and mobile phones from their possession.
The gamblers were identified as Shabbir, Farman Ali, Ejaz Khan, Niaz Ameen, Ansar Ali, Gul Sher and Yousuf. During routine patrolling, Sub-Inspector Abdul Razzaq and ASI Waheed Ahmed arrested Maqsood Ali for possessing 200 grammes of hashish, while a Nigerian national, Emmanuel was arrested for possessing alcohol. Sub–Inspector Khalid Mehmud of Aabpara police nabbed Abdul Razzaq for possessing 510 grammes of hashish. SHO Mehboob Ahmed, ASIs Sarfaraz Ahmed and Ashfaq Ahmed arrested Niaz Ali, Naseemullah Khan, Haneef, Zareen Abbass, Abdul Qayyum and recovered two 30-bore pistols, a 222-bore rifle, two 12-bore guns and 17-cartridges from their possession.
An accused Israr was arrested by ASI Waheed Ahmed of Golra Police Station for possessing a 30-bore pistol. Javed Iqbal and Abdul Rauf were arrested by ASI Ameer from the Industrial Area police precincts, while three beggars were arrested by Aabpara police. Cases have been registered against those arrested under relevant sections.
