2 held in Dir murder case
DIR: Two persons were arrested in the killing of a driver and his assistant in Patrak area in Upper Dir district on Sunday, sources said. The sources said that the accused Usman and Muhammad Nawaz, belonging to Patrak in Kohistan district, hired a coach (LES-735) from Mardan to Kohistan. The accused killed driver Zahid Hussain and conductor Mushtaq and dumped their bodies near a seasonal stream, the sources said, adding that the bodies, which could not be identified, were buried temporarily. The relatives of the slain persons went to Patrak and exhumed the bodies for burial in their hometown.
Following the incident, the police team led by Inspector Farooq Jan held probe into the case and recovered the passenger coach in Swat. The sources said that the police questioned the party, which had bought the coach, and they led the police to arrest the accused who had sold the coach after killing the driver and conductor.
The police arrested Usman and Nawaz who admitted killing the driver and his helper and named two other accomplices, Sardar and Nadir belonging to Kohati village in Swabi district. The sources said that the two accused had already escaped to Karachi. District Police Officer Dir Upper Mir Qasim said that the Sindh government’s help would be sought for the arrest of the absconding accused.
