Lahore: Cops charged for ‘fake encounter’
LAHORE: Following court’s orders, Nisthar Colony Police on Sunday lodged a case against 10 policemen including an Inspector on charges of staging a fake police encounter some years back. According to the details, a police party led by Inspector Munawar Dogar had allegedly shot dead one Sarfaraz, son of Allah Rakha, on his doorsteps at midnight on July 13, 2010.
A family member said the deceased was coming home on a motorbike when he was stopped at a police picket. “Sarfaraz had asked the officers to let him go, but they dragged and thrashed him, so he tried to rescue himself and ran towards his home situated near the police picket,” he stated.
According to him, the policemen chased Sarfaraz, dragged him out of the house and finally shot him dead when he continued to resist. He said that after killing the boy, the police concerned registered a fake case against Sarfarz, by wrongly terming the incident as a ‘police encounter’.
