Karachi: Watchman shot dead
KARACHI: A watchman was shot dead in Muhammad Ali Society on Monday, police said. They said that 50-year-old Badshah Khan, employed by a family for their security, was killed on Monday morning after he escorted his employer’s children to the car parked outside their home.
“The children were going to school and as a matter of routine he was accompanying them from the courtyard to the car,” said an official at the Bahadurabad police station. “As the children left for school, two men on a motorbike arrived there and after a brief chat with the victim fired a single shot that hit him in the chest. He died on the spot.”
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
“A paternal cousin of the victim, Zar Muhammad, told the police that they hailed from Mardan and had some dispute within the family,” said the official. “One of their cousins had lost his life in the same manner only two months ago and they suspected the same reason behind Badshah Khan’s murder. However, the family did not nominate anyone in the FIR (71/2012) registered under Sections 302 and 34 of the PPC on a complaint of the victim’s cousin, Zar Muhammad.”
