Karachi: 3 gunned down in separate areas of metropolis
KARACHI: Two people were gunned down while a body was found from separate areas of the metropolis here on Tuesday. Police found a youngster’s seven-day old body from Liaquatabad, C-1 area graveyard within the precincts of Super Market police station. Identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained.
DSP Rustam Khattak said the body was lying near an empty grave and victim’s hands and legs were tied with ropes. He further informed that deceased had been shot once in the head and body was abandoned some seven days ago. He said his face was blotched by worms and it was difficult for the police to identify him.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for postmortem and later moved to the Edhi Morgue for identification. It was recovered on the information of a gravedigger who had called the police to inform of a body lying in the graveyard. A case has been against unidentified men on the complaint of state.
Separately, a man was tortured to death, while another injured in Madina Colony within the limits of FB area police station. According to police, accused Imran, son of Salah Uddin shot and injured Tariq Mehsud on some personal dispute. Subsequently, the area people overpowered Imran and gave him a beating until police arrived and freed him some twenty minutes later. Police shifted Imran and Mehsud to the ASH for medical treatment, however, Imran succumbed to his injuries on the way.
SHO Javed Yousufzai said deceased Imran had around a dozen crime cases registered in his name at Baloch Colony police station. He said victim was a resident of Junejo Town, Mahmoodabad and had some dispute with Mehsud who was also nominated in several cases.
The SHO further informed that the people who tortured Imran to death belonged to the Mehsud tribe, adding that Tariq was also nominated in several cases of robberies and riots. Police have registered an FIR (32/12) on the complaint of state and initiated the probe.
Meanwhile, an elderly man was shot dead in Rasheedabad, Baldia within the precincts of Site B police station. The victim, 70-year-old Abdul Hafeez Khan, son of Salay Khan was a resident of the same area. He was going home when unidentified armed men shot and killed him.
SHO Shafiq Tanoli said victim used to run a hotel in the same vicinity. Khan’s family revealed that he had an enmity with one of his relatives in Haripur Hazara. Victim has left four children in mourning. Body was shifted to the ASH for autopsy while case could not be registered till filing of this report.
