Islamabad: 14kg hashish seized at city entrance, City police arrest 11 criminals, including 2 POs
ISLAMABAD: Police on Wednesday claimed to have seized around 14 kilogrammes of hashish that was being brought to the city in a truck. Police say a patrolling team stopped a suspicious truck near the city entrance and found the drugs during search of the vehicle. Police have impounded the vehicle and arrested two men, identified as Fazal Gul and Fanoos Khan.
The arrested men are said to be residents of Peshawar, and police say they are hopeful to get important information regarding drug trafficking from the accused.
Meanwhile, the capital police claimed to have arrested two proclaimed offenders and nine other criminals for their alleged involvement in bootlegging, theft and keeping fake currency.
According to details, Aabpara Police arrested a man named Yasir Ayaz for possessing a 30-bore pistol and one dagger, while Kohsar Police arrested two alleged mobile thieves – Sadam and Shamashad – besides recovering stolen mobiles from them.
Tarnol Police nabbed a woman named Tasneem for having 420 grammes of hashish, while Sabzi Mandi Police arrested Shahid Yousuf and recovered fake currency worth Rs 50,000 from him.
Meanwhile, CIA Police arrested Naveed Ilyas and recovered 30 bottles of wine from him. Separately, the police also arrested a robber, Sultan Mehmud, and Sihala Police arrested two thieves – Adeel and Nabil.
Kohsar Police nabbed a proclaimed offender, identified as Imdad Hussain, while Shalimar Police arrested another proclaimed offender, Yousuf Zeeshan.
A police spokesman said Senior Superintendent of Police Muhammad Yousaf Malik had appreciated the performance of field officers and directed all officials to intensify patrolling in their respective areas.
