Lahore: Judge to rule today on FIRs against former CM in Sapna Khan case
LAHORE: A judge is expected to rule today (Thursday) whether former chief minister Dost Muhammad Khosa forged documents to try and discredit the man accusing him of killing his ex-wife. Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Chaudhry Nazeer Ahmed on Wednesday reserved his verdict on Missal Khan’s plea that Khosa had submitted forged documents to the court to establish that Missal was not the father of Sapna Khan, an actress and the former chief minister’s ex-wife.
Missal also sought a copy of an FIR against Khosa and others for the alleged abduction and murder of Sapna, saying that police officials had told him that the FIR had been registered but stood sealed.
Khosa’s counsel Advocate Zubair Khalid contended that the matter of whether a murder and abduction case should be registered against his client was pending with the Lahore High Court and the ADSJ should await its decision.
Petitioner’s counsel Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique said that the matter concerning the registration of a murder case was pending with the LHC, but here the court should order the registration of a fraud case against Khosa since he had prepared a forged birth certificate and submitted it to the police as evidence.
Khalid said that the record of the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) office in Mardan showed that Missal was not Sapna’s father.
He said the police also investigated the matter and found that Missal was not her father.
The judge asked Khalid if Khosa knew whether or not Sapna was Missal’s daughter when they got married. He also noted that Missal’s name was written as the father on the couple’s nikah nama.
Khalid said that Khosa and Sapna had married without their families’ knowledge and his client had not thought of investigating her father’s name at the time.
The judge then reserved his verdict for Thursday.
