Karachi: UTP pushes man off court building
KARACHI: A man was seriously injured when an undertrial pushed him off the second floor of a sessions court building on the premises of the city courts on Saturday, police said. The undertrial, Mohammad Arshad, has been charged with making an attempt to kill complainant Shahzada over a monetary dispute within the remit of the Boat Basin police station last month.
The hearing of the attempted murder case was fixed for Saturday before Additional District and Sessions Judge (south) Shahid Hussian Chandio and the accused, who was on bail, and the complainant came to the city courts to appear in court.
The police said that Shahzada was waiting for his turn outside the courtroom, situated on the second floor of the sessions’ court (south) building, when the accused came from behind and pushed over the complainant, who fell to the ground from the second floor and suffered serious injuries.
Some policemen were present near the scene and they overpowered the accused shortly after the incident. The injured was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where his condition was said to be critical.
A case (FIR 21/2012) was registered against the undertrial under Sections 324 (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s father at the City Courts police station.
A police official said that the accused and the victim were business partners and they had a monetary dispute and the complainant had lodged an FIR (6/2012) against him and his accomplices under Section 324 and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Boat Basin police station.
