Earlier, a delegation of stone crushers and transporters’ association led by Malik Yasir Mehmood held a meeting with Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Ch Nisar Ali Khan and apprised him of the illegal extortion by the contractor of Punjab Mineral Department.
Their application was forwarded to local police, which launched a crackdown against extortion mafia and arrested eight persons identified as Shahid Zaman, Mukhtar Ali, Asif Ali, Khalid Mehmood, Mohammad Shakeel, Mohammad Anwar, Mohammad Asif and Ghulam Fareed. Their check posts established with the connivance of Punjab Mineral Department were also removed.
