Lahore: Fraud accused bailed
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday granted bail to Dr Majid Naeem, former IT Consultant of Education Boards of Punjab and his co-accused Mian Tariq Masood, System Analyst in a fraud case. Petitioners’ counsel contended that accused were arrested in a case registered under Sections 409 and 420 of the CPC on the complaint of Arshad Mahmood, a Section Officer of the Higher Education Department.
He pleaded that accused were falsely implicated in the case with mala fide intentions. He said the FIR neither carried the date nor time of occurrence. He pointed out that no specific allegations had been levelled against accused in the FIR.
Petitioners’ counsel submitted the inquiry report on the basis of which instant FIR was registered which was based on assumption, as it did not present any concrete evidence against accused.
The counsel contended that the senior special judge, anti-corruption, had dismissed bail applications of accused without any cogent reason. He requested the court to grant the bail to accused. Agreeing with contentions, the court granted bail to accused subject to furnish bail bonds worth Rs 500,000 each.
