Islamabad: Of an old woman’s murder by son
ISLAMABAD: How can one believe that a son murdered his mother over a property dispute? It really happened on January 9 this year when a retired army officer was found involved in the killing of his real mother (widow of Major General (r) Qazi Abdul Aziz) at her house in Harley Street falling in the jurisdiction of RA Bazaar Police Station.
The RA Bazaar Police took up the case and registered an FIR (10/2012) under Sections 302 and 109 of the PPC on the complaint of woman’s son Major (r) Amir Qazi and Sub-Inspector Rana Latif was deputed as investigation officer (IO) of the case.
Major (r) Amir Qazi, son of late Major General (r) Qazi Abdul Aziz, resident of Abbott Road, Westridge, in his written complaint, said that at about 4:30 p.m., he received a call from a servant of his mother, Rana Iftikhar who informed him that his mother was injured and in a critical condition. He said that he rushed to his mother’s house and saw that she was being taken to the CMH in an ambulance by his sister, Tania Qazi. He alleged that a dispute had developed between his mother and brother Lieutenant Colonel (r) Adil Aziz Qazi, his wife, sister and her husband, who killed her to grab property.
Police started investigation into the case after detaining people nominated by the complainant, but those associated with investigation, reeked some doubts in the story narrated by the complainant when they recorded the statement of the woman’s servant who was found injured in his quarter. Police picked out disparities in the tales of the complainant and the servant. Sardar, the servant, unveiled the real story and disclosed that the complainant was the real assassin.
It was Monday when Mst. Azmat Bibi was alone at her house (39 Harley Street), while domestic servant Sardar, who was serving the woman for more than 15 years, was in his quarter, the investigating officer, quoting the statement of Sardar, told ‘The News’.
In the meantime, Major (r) Amir Qazi, son of late Major General (r) Qazi Abdul Aziz and Mst. Azmat Bibi, came to the house and straightaway went to his mother’s bedroom, said the RA Bazaar Police official engaged with the investigation of the case, quoting the statement of the domestic servant. The servant, after hearing the yells of Major (r) Amir Qazi and cries of Mst. Azmat Bibi, rushed to the room and saw that he was torturing his mother. He was hitting on her head with an iron rod causing her death on the spot. Later, he targeted Sardar and injured him and left the house.
The investigation officer said that the complainant managed to cook up a story and implicated his brother, sister and brother-in-law to mislead police. However he confessed to his crime during interrogation.
