Karachi: Sexual assault case
KARACHI: A court sentenced on Tuesday a man to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting a boy. The court found Yousuf Khan guilty of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old boy within the remit of the Aziz Bhatti police station in September 2009. The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 and in case of non-payment the accused would have to undergo an additional three-month imprisonment.
Assistant Additional District and Sessions Judge (east) Sarwat Sultana pronounced her verdict after recording the evidence of witnesses and final arguments from both sides.
The court in its verdict ruled that the victim and other witnesses had supported the case of the prosecution and their testimonies were corroborated by medical evidence.
A case (FIR 386/2009) was registered against the accused under Sections 377 (unnatural offences) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint of the victim`s mother at the Aziz Bhatti police station.
The accused was present in court on bail and following the pronouncement of the verdict he was taken into custody and sent to jail to serve out the remainder of his sentence.
