Karachi: Suspect indicted for killing policeman
KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday indicted a suspect in a policeman`s murder case. The suspect, Matiullah, has been booked and arrested for his alleged involvement in killing a police constable, Moosa Khan, and wounding Assistant Sub-Inspector Aslam Khattak within the remit of the Mehmoodabad police station in May 2010.
Judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon of the ATC-III read out the charges against the accused. However, the suspect pleaded not guilty.
The court summoned all prosecution witnesses with a direction to record their statements on March 15.
According to the prosecution, on May 25, 2010 the accused along with their absconding accomplices had attacked a police team in the Mehmoodabad area, killing a constable and wounding an ASI.
A case (FIR 223/2010) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 324 (attempted murder), 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
