Karachi: One gets life imprisonment
KARACHI: A Special Court for Control of Narcotics Substance on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for possessing a huge quantity of contraband chemical. Judge of the Special Court-II (CNS) Sanaullah Khan Ghori awarded life sentence to Abdul Qadir and imposed a fine of Rs one million and in case of default the convict would have to undergo additional five years imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Abdul Qadir was arrested by a team of Anti Narcotics Force from near Habib Bank roundabout on May 19, 2008, and 248 kg of diazepam chemical was recovered from his possession.
In his order, the judge observed that the prosecution proved its case beyond any shadow of doubt. He further observed that no material contradiction was found in the statements of the witnesses, as the evidence placed by the prosecution was reliable and convincing on all material particulars and supported by the chemical analysis report and other documentary evidence. The convict was on bail and he was immediately taken into custody after the pronouncement of the judgment.
