Kohat: TTP claims responsibility for killing Chinese woman
KOHAT: The Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) claimed responsibility on Thursday for the killing of a Chinese woman in Peshawar, with the Darra Adamkhel chapter of the agency revealing that the murder was to avenge the atrocities committed against Muslims in China’s Xinjiang province.
The Chinese victim, Hua Jiang, was shot dead in broad daylight in Peshawar’s Jehangirpura Bazaar on Tuesday along with her Pakistani companion Suleman Shams, a student of Government College University, Lahore. The killer had emerged stealthily from the shadows of the narrow streets and vanished immediately after pulling the trigger. The gunman is still at large.
A TTP spokesperson for the Darra Adamkhel unit, Muhammad, made the claim from an unknown location via telephone to reporters in Kohat. This marks the first time such a claim has been made, as Pakistani militants have till now chosen not to speak about the plight of Chinese Muslims.
