Rawalpindi: Woman burnt by ‘in-laws’
RAWALPINDI: A woman was critically injured after she was set ablaze allegedly by her husband’s brothers and mother–in-law over a domestic dispute in Sadiqabad area, police said. Mubeen Kausar, who sustained 70 per cent burns, was removed to the Holy Family Hospital where she was stated to be in critical condition.
Raja Qamar, the brother of the victim said in his complaint lodged with Sadiqabad police that his sister was married with Raja Munir Ahmed some 18 year back.
He said his sister had been complaining for quite some time that she was being teased by her in–laws over domestic matters.
He added on Wednesday night, he was informed that his sister was removed to HFH after she was burnt.
He accused Raja Munir Ahmed, the husband of the victim, his two brothers Maqsood Ahmed, Masood Ahmed and their mother for setting his sister on fire.
When contacted Raja Munir said he was at home when his wife set herself on fire. He denied that she was burnt by his brothers or mother.
However, he acknowledged that his wife was not willing to shift to another house while his mother has been asking her to move.
He said since he had returned to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia, he had been trying to convince her that he would settle the issue very soon.
