Karachi: 720 kg of opium, 400kg of hashish seized
KARACHI: The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) on Sunday seized a huge quantity of hashish and opium, worth Rs70 million in international market, near Gwadar, Balochistan. The PCG had received information that a huge quantity of the contraband was being smuggled to Karachi via road. In the meantime, Coast Guards officials signaled a suspicious Irani Toyota Land Cruiser to stop. Upon seeing the PCG personnel, the smugglers reportedly opened fire and the driver sped away the vehicle. However, the PCG team managed to intercept the vehicle that had been abandoned by the smugglers. Over 400 kilograms of hashish and 720 kg of opium were recovered from the jeep.
