Murder of 14 people in Gujrat clash; 2 get life term, 12 acquitted
GUJRANWALA: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Wamiq Javed awarded life imprisonment to a man and his son while acquitted 12 co-accused, giving them the benefit of doubt, in a case of killing of 14 people in an armed clash two years ago. The court convicted Bashir Ahmed and his son Waheed and acquitted co-accused, including Ahsan, Yousaf Ali, Sajjad, Pervaiz, Hanif, Khalid, Aleem, Shabbir and Tasadduq.
The court had already declared co-accused Taimoor, Amanat, Asif, Basharat and Wasim as proclaimed offenders. Safeer, Mudassar, Naveed and Nazim were killed in an encounter with the police. Fourteen people were killed in the clash at Kakrali village, Gujrat on February 6, 2010. The deceased included Ishtiaq Anwar, Muhammad Arshad, Muhammad Farooq, Fida Hussain, Raja Muhammad Akram, Imran Akram, Rizwan Akram, Sajjad Akram, Qamar Shahzad, Ziaullah, Muhammad Akbar, Muhammad Yasir and Waqar.
