Karachi: Bail plea of ‘midwife’ in foetuses case dismissed
KARACHI: A sessions court on Thursday dismissed the bail application of a suspected midwife in the five foetuses case. Nuzhat Aslam was arrested on Feb 23 at her ‘clinic’ in Chakra Goth in connection with the case of the five foetuses found in a garbage dump in a Manzoor Colony area on Feb 14.
The suspect, who is currently in jail custody, through her counsel moved a bail application in the court. After hearing arguments from counsel for the defence and the public prosecutor, the additional district and sessions judge (south), Abdul Razzaq, dismissed the plea.
A case (FIR No 25/12) was registered under Sections 329 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body), 338–B (isqat–i-janin or cause a pregnant woman to miscarry), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offence) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Mehmoodabad police station.
