Karachi: 40 factory employees robbed
KARACHI: Six armed bandits robbed 40 employees of a garment factory riding home on a bus of their salaries in the Mominabad area on Saturday night.
According to the police, when information about the bus robbery and the passengers’ protest against it in the Bijlee Nagar area was received, a patrolling mobile reached the scene.
The police said 40 employees of the Al–Mustafa Garment Factory, situated in SITE area, were standing near the bus.
It was a routine to pay the salary on the 10th of every month, and on Saturday they had received their wages but as they were heading home they were robbed, the police added.
Six motorcyclists intercepted the bus by pointing a pistol at the driver. Moreover, four suspects entered the bus and held the staff hostage.
The dacoits snatched cash and cell phones from them and threatened to shoot anyone who resisted.
During the looting, they also beat up some of the labourers. They also stole jewellery from the women.
After committing the robbery, the bandits fled with the looted items.
The police have registered a case and started investigations. They have also mounted a search for the bandits.
