Karachi: Labourer gunned down in Pak Colony
KARACHI: A marble company labourer was gunned down by armed assailants in Pak Colony on Monday. The law and order situation took a turn in Rizvia Society where armed men forcibly closed businesses in the area during which a girl was also shot at.
Zahid Baloch, 25, was shot dead in the Pak Colony police limits. The incident took place in Petal Wali Gali which lies under the jurisdiction of Rizvia Society. The said police station refused to carry out the legal proceedings due to which the Pak Colony police had performed the post–mortem of the deceased so that no defiling of the deceased was further made.
SP Akram Abro of SITE Town said that the incident took place within the Rizvia police limits; however, officials from Rizvia police station refused to take responsibility for the incident, claiming that the murder took place in the jurisdiction of Pak Colony.
He added that to prevent the body from being defiled, he directed the Pak Colony police to immediately shift the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to complete the legal proceedings.
Moreover, Zahid was the resident of Surjani Town and worked at a marble shop situated in the area. He had gone to Petal Wali Gali for some work when armed men shot him dead and fled. Police said that the deceased had sustained a single bullet wound. Armed men resorted to aerial firing in Gulbahar forcing traders to close their businesses. During the disturbance two passers-by including a girl Faiza was shot at.
