Rawalpindi: Police bust intra-district gangs; 3 held
RAWALPINDI: Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted two intra–district gangs involved in kidnapping for ransom, dacoity, car lifting and robberies and arrested three persons during a special vehicle checking drive in different localities of the city.
Police also recovered a stolen car, a detainee that was kidnapped at gunpoint with his car, mobile phone, laptop and weapons were used in criminal activities.
The arrested kidnappers were identified as Suhaib Ullah son of Zahid Ullah hails from Buner and Anjum Shehzad son of Ismail belonged to Swabi and Jabir Khan son of Laj Burd Khan of Mardan, the notorious member of intra district auto–theft gang. This was revealed by DSP Civil Line Circle Malik Tariq Mehboob during a news conference held at his office. Tariq said that taking notice of increasing crime rate, City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher formed a police team and gave it a task to bust the outlaws involved in car lifting, kidnapping, dacoity and robberies.
He told that two kidnappers kidnapped a citizen Zubair Rasheed son of Rasheed Nasir of Bahria Town along with his Honda city car at gunpoint from the area of Police Check Post Gulraiz at 12:00 a.m. on March 12 last.
The kidnappers were escaping when police officials on suspicious tried to stop the car at Meharabad Police Picket but the kidnappers started firing at police party in a bid to run away. However, police officials deputed on duty did a brave and held two kidnappers Suhaib and Anjum. Police recovered the detainee from their clutches, car, a laptop and two mobile phones, said DSP.
In another police action, Tariq told said police smashed an intra-district four-wheelers theft gang by nabbing a key member of the gang and recovering a Toyota corolla GLI car.
