Karachi: 3 killed in separate incidents
KARACHI: Three people were killed in separate incidents in the city on Wednesday. A 62–year–old man died at his son’s Bhains Colony residence after being hit on the head with a spanner. Haji Mir Mohammed died on the spot when Nasir, his son’s brother-in-law, struck him with the heavy metal spanner, after an altercation took place between the two. The body was later shifted to the JPMC for an autopsy.
The accused however, managed to escape before the Sukhan police arrived at the scene. The family hails from Larkana. In a separate incident, a body was found near an empty plot in Sector 7-A of Surjani Town. After an autopsy was conducted on the body at the Abbasi Shaheed Hopital, it was found that the corpse was some 10 days old and bore no torture marks or bullet wounds. Poison was found to be the cause of death.
The police also retrieved a piece of paper in a pocket of the clothes that the deceased wore, which stated that his domestic problems compelled him to commit suicide. Meanwhile, A political activist was killed near Nazia Square in New Karachi area when armed motorcyclists opened fire on him. The 22-year-old Muazzam was sitting with his friends when the incident took place. He expired on his way to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police claimed it to be a targeted killing.
Separately, a Rizvia Imambargah ambulance driver was killed in an attempted robbery in the Liaquatabad area late on Wednesday night. Mohammed Ali, 50, was gunned down by armed assailants in the Liaquatabad No–10 area.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Syed Mohammed Raza of the area said it
was Wednesday night when information about a shoot–out near the Serya Cut was received. Acting on the information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where during the treatment he succumbed.
SDPO Raza said the deceased was a resident of the Rizvia Society and an ambulance driver at the Imambargah. On Wednesday night, he and his wife were on their way to a relative’s house when two armed motorcyclists intercepted them and asked for Ali’s wife jewellery.
When Ali resisted and screamed for help, the dacoits panicked and sprayed him with gunshots, fleeing the scene later. The deceased received three bullet wounds on the body. A case was reported and investigation is underway.
Former PIA captain’s house robbed. Three robbers looted cash, jewellery and other valuables from the residence of a retired PIA captain in Gulshan-e-Maymar on Wednesday.
The three men barged into Asghar’s bungalow in Sector Z/5 and at gunpoint locked up the family in a room. They then collected cash, gold ornaments, mobile phones and other valuables from the house and escaped in a car (AFM- 3811). Asghar filed an FIR at the Gulshan–e-Maymar police station.
Also on Wednesday, criminals stole 20 cars and 35 motorcycles, while about 65 mobile phones were snatched and 35 people robbed of their valuables in the metropolis.
