Karachi: Newborn boy found strangled
KARACHI: The body of a newborn baby boy, who was strangled, was found in the Mobina Town police limits on Wednesday. The body, wrapped in a piece of cloth, was found in a garbage dump near the Rajput Colony. A sweeper saw the body and informed the police, who shifted it to the JPMC for an autopsy. A medico–legal officer at the hospital said the body was at least six hours, adding that the cause of death was strangulation.
Last year, Edhi collected 485 bodies of newborn babies in Pakistan while 171 alive babies were found in Edhi cradles. Since Jan 2012, the charity has gathered 180 such bodies while 78 babies have been abandoned at the cradles thus far.
