Karachi: Minor girl saved from rape at the hands of teenage boy
KARACHI: A minor girl was saved on Saturday night from attempted rape in the Niaz Manzil area. The accused, a 14 year-old boy by the name of Shamshad, was able to escape before her neighbours, who had to break into Shamshad’s house to save the girl, could stop him.
Police said that on Saturday evening they received information that there had been some security problems in the Niaz Manzil area.
Acting on the information, police rushed to the location, where they were informed by locals that a minor girl had come under rape attempt and had now been shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
Police said that they sent a team to ASH, who met with Sadiq, who informed the police that on Saturday evening his daughter, A, 7 left home to purchase sweets from the market. Sadiq says he works in a laundry shop situated nearby to where the incident took place.
On her way to the market, her neighbour Shamshad, 14, called A into his house. One she was inside he tried raping her, but A started shouting and screaming for help. Her screams were heard by neighbours and passers-by, a number of whom rushed into the house to see what was happening. Shamsad, realising that he had been caught, rushed out of the back door of his house.
Medical staff at ASH claimed that the initial report stated that the girl’s body had torture marks.
