Rawalpindi: 8-member gang of robbers busted
Rawalpindi: The CIA Police have busted an eight–member gang of dacoits, which was active in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and other cities of Punjab, police said. The city police officer (CPO), Rawalpindi, taking notice of increase in incidents of crime, especially armed robberies, had referred some cases to the CIA Police, asking SP (CIA) Dr Wasi Haider to ensure arrest of robbers.
The SP (CIA) constituted a team, including ASI Gul Taj and Nadeem Faisal, which managed to bust the Haji gang led by Raza Shafique. Members of the gang were arrested one-by-one from different areas recovering cash, gold and other valuables. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition were also recovered from them.
Police said that gangsters confessed to their involvement in 68 robberies in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and adjacent cities, adding that they mostly targeted Pirwadhai, Saddar Bairuni and Rawat. Sources said that the gang was based in Chakwal and Kalar Kahar. It is worth mentioning here that the same team headed by ASI Gul Taj had smashed the gang of cops of Rawalpindi Police involved in robberies, muggings and other offences.
