Rawalpindi: Robbers loot Rs80 million, injure two car-riders
RAWALPINDI: Daring dacoits in broad daylight on Friday targeted car–riders coming to Islamabad with Rs80 million cash and took away the whole money after spraying them with bullets at Burhan Intersection falling in the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi Region.
The two car–riders were wounded critically and shifted to the hospital, police said. Police sources said that three men, Zia Rehman and Ahsanullah, belonging to Tribal Areas, and Abdul Qadir hailing from Mansehra, employees of a money exchange company, were taking Rs80 million to Islamabad in their Toyota Corolla car bearing registration number RK-976-ICT. A gang of three gunmen intercepted them and started firing on the car, police said. Zia Rehman and Abdul Qadir were wounded. The robbers collected the cash from the car and sped away. Police have taken up the case and started investigation.
