Karachi: Abducted boy found dead in Dhabeji
KARACHI: A boy who was abducted in Steel Town four days ago was found dead near a water filter plant in Dhabeji on Wednesday night. Earlier the family of the eight-grader had staged a protest on the National Highway for his recovery. The police tried to disperse the protesters and resorted to a baton charge but the protesters pelted the police with stones.
The police also took recourse to aerial firing and tear gas but eventually had to call in the local political figures to calm the protesters. According to the police, 13–year–old Afaq, son of Muhammad Afzal, was kidnapped by unidentified people four days back while he was going to his school. The kidnappers called the father and demanded one million rupees in ransom.
After the protest, the police lodged an FIR and arrested three accused, including Amjed Ahmed and Khuda Bukhsh. The SHO Steel Town, Rafeeq Hussain Shah, told The News that the accused nominated in the FIR had confessed to killing the boy.
