Karachi: 2 cousins among three shot dead
KARACHI: Two cousins hailing from Gilgit were gunned down in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, while a photographer was shot dead in North Karachi on Sunday. Abdul Haleem (22) and Kamran (20) were killed near Aun Heights, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, in the Aziz Bhatti police limits on Sunday evening.
According to Sub–Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) New Town Nazeer Abro, both youngsters were having a chat when four gunmen, riding motorcycles, appeared there and sprayed them with bullets. They were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where they died. Police seized four empty casings of a 9mm pistol and collected blood samples as part of investigations.
Abdul Haleem was a student of Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan and he hailed from Gilgit–Baltistan, while Kamran lived in Mikasaa Apartment situated near the old Sabzi Mandi. Haleem had come to Karachi on vacation two days ago to meet his cousin. Police said that both the deceased belonged to the Deobund sect and it was apparently a target killing incident.
Their cell phones’ record showed that someone had called them to the scene and as soon as they reached there they were gunned down. However, further investigations are under way.
Meanwhile, Qasim, 25, was shot dead in Sector–5C/1 of North Karachi in the Khwaja Ajmer Nagri police limits early on Sunday morning. Police said that the man was attacked outside his house at about 2am by unidentified motorcycles.
The corpse was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post–mortem. The victim had received multiple bullet wounds that caused his instant death.
Qasim worked as a photographer near Ayesha Manzil and was the only breadwinner of his family. Police said that the victim was a supporter of a political group, but they were not sure whether he was targeted or killed over some enmity. Police are investigating the matter.
