LJ terrorist arrested in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: Police captured a key leader of banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Jhngvi (LJ), wanted to law enforcing agencies in many terrorist activities, from Nawaz Sharif Park late on Sunday night when he was receiving ransom amount from a lady, police sources said. SP Potohar Raja Basharat supervised the operation against the alleged terrorist identified as Zaigham Abbas and trapped him in his net, the sources said.
One Abid Hussain, a top businessman of the city, living in Tench Bhata, received an obnoxious call a few days back, the police sources said, and added that the caller introduced himself as a terrorist of LJ demanding 2.5 million rupees as ransom for not kidnapping him and threatened that his family would be killed by blowing up his house if he failed to fulfil his demand within this week.
He asked him not to involve the police. The police said that the victim straightaway informed SP Potohar who himself took up the case and started investigation asking the complainant to start bargaining with the terrorist. During the settlement, the LJ activist asked him to send any woman for delivering the cash bag.
The SP deployed a lady constable for paying the amount and conveyed him message that a lady with bag in her hand, would come to him. Meanwhile, a team led by the SP cordoned off the area in plain clothes while the lady constable located him standing near the main gate of the park. The police overpowered him and shifted to RA Bazaar police station.
