Rawalpindi: Man deprived of Rs350,000
RAWALPINDI: A car-riding gang targeted a man and deprived him of Rs350,000 on Friday in the guise of ‘aliens’ asking him direction to Saddar, police said. The New Town Police, quoting the statement of the victim, Mohammad Raqeeb, said that he went to the Commercial Market to exchange Saudi Riyals.
He said that as he came out of the money–changers outlet after getting Rs350,000, a white Toyota Corolla car stopped near him and one among four riders asked him direction of Saddar, giving him an impression that they were outsiders and lost their way.
As the victim’s destination was in the same direction, the gangsters offered him a ride, he told police. According to him, during the drive, they whipped out guns and asked him to hand them over money drawn from the money–changer. He said that they snatched money and pushed him out of their car. Such offences are happening in Rawalpindi as routine for long but police show their ignorance towards such incidents.
