Karachi: Violence gripped the metropolis as more than 1 dozen car set to fire in different areas
KARACHI: The violent and sabotage elements are currently running amok in the metropolis, bringing the routine civic life to an abrupt halt amid panic large writ on the faces of citizens. A man was killed in a firing incident in Manzoor Colony in the recent spate of violence this morning. Also, another person was injured in firing incident in Safoora Chowrangi. Meantime, there are reports of injuries to other people as well in other parts of the city.
Over 20 buses have been set on fire in different areas of the city. Some people tried to set a bus on fire near Central Jail; however, their attempt was aborted. Also, firing incidents are being reported from various areas of the city. Gunshots rang in Malir–15 and on National Highway, where two buses were committed to flames.
A bus was set on fire in Abul Hasan Isfahani Road area. Some unidentified miscreants set a bus near Jauhar Chowrangi. Some people forced the closure of shops in Gulbahar, where firing incident was also reported. As many as four buses were torched in Orangi Town. Another bus was burned down on Shaheed–e–Millat Road. A mini-bus has been set ablaze at 4K Chowrangi.
Two buses were set on fire near Liaquatabad–10. Some unidentified people roamed around in Gulshan-e-Iqbal-13D, where shops have been shut down in panic.
Meantime, there are reports from most areas of the city that petrol pumps have been closed. Intense firing was reported from area abutting Falak Naz Apartments. Police directed citizens to take alternative path to drive their way to their respective destinations.
Massive gridlock is being witnessed on Shahra-e–Faisal road leading to airport. It should be mentioned here earlier, a police mobile van and six other vehicles were torched earlier after a rampage incident outside a private hospital near National Stadium.
