Karachi: AVCC, CPLC recover abductee, arrest 5 kidnappers
KARACHI: Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) on Thursday claimed to have recovered a captive, besides arresting his five kidnappers. Mohammad Naeem Mughal, 33, was kidnapped on March 19 from the limits of Steel Town police station. He was picked up on his way home from work place. Mughal’s family later received a call from kidnappers for the payment of Rs 30 million ransom.
They contacted the CPLC for assistance that formed a joint investigation team along with AVCC in the command of Deputy Chief Najeeb Danawala, Deputy Chief CPLC Sindh and SP AVCC Ghulam Subhani. The team comprising Shabar Malik, Haris and Inspector Syed Atif Shah, with the help of technical details and surveillance, managed to locate the hideout of kidnappers. On the evening of March 27, the team raided their hideout in Ghaghar Phatak and safely recovered Mughal after a brief encounter. Five kidnappers, including Iqbal, Mohsin, Raju, Qurban and Abdullah were arrested in the raid. Police also recovered five TT pistols and a Kalashnikov from their possession. An FIR (80/12) had been registered in this regard at Steel Town police station.
