5 killed in tribal clashes in Sukkur
SUKKUR: Five people, including two cousins, were killed in two separate incidents in the Sukkur region on Thursday. Reports said armed men of Jatoi tribe abducted 10 labourers and later shot three of them dead after identifying them as Jagiranis. The incident took place in village Banjlu in the limits of Rustam police station of Shikarpur.
The three killed were identified as Iqbal Jagirani, his cousin Nawab Jagirani and their relative Gulshan Jagirani. The Jatois later freed other abducted labourers.
SSP Shikarpur Faizullah Koraijo said the situation was under control after he established temporary police pickets. He said a man Ghulam Sarwar Jatoi was killed and the Jatois took revenge of the killing from the Jagiranis.
SSP Koraijo said an operation against the feuding clans had been launched. In another incident in the Katcha area of Kandhkot, a clash developed between two groups of the Chachar clan in which Razan Chachar and Aziz Chachar were killed. The killing led to tension and fear in the area.
