Faisalabad: Female advocate awarded death sentence
FAISALABAD: The Anti–Terrorism Court-I (ATC) Judge Ishtiaq Ahmad awarded death sentence on three counts to a woman advocate and life imprisonment on three counts to her two accomplices involved in abduction for ransom cum murder case. According to the prosecution, Ishrat Naheed Advocate resident Satellite Town along with her brother Muhammad Nasir Iqbal and accomplice Adeel Arshad abducted 16–year–old Bilal son of a local trader Javaid, on November 17, 2011.
The accused demanded Rs 3.5 million as ransom for the release of Bilal, but after bargaining they agreed to receive Rs 3 million as ransom. However, after receiving ransom money which was put in a dustbin of Orthopaedic Ward of District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, killed the abducted boy and threw his body into Rakh Branch Canal.
The body of the boy was recovered from the canal near Kahna Bridge. After observing evidences and witness, the court awarded capital punishment on three counts to accused Advocate Ishrat Naheed and three counts life imprisonment to other two accused including her brother Nasir Iqbal. The court also ordered for confiscation of all property of the accused besides imposing fine of Rs 200,000.
