Karachi: Target killings claim 4 more lives
KARACHI: Four more people fell victim to what appeared to be incidents of targeted killings in the city. Zakir, 25, and Faheem, 28, had been kidnapped by unidentified people in PIB Colony on Saturday. They were later dumped in the Jamshed Quarters police limits, Zakir dead while Faheem alive but fatally injured.
Fahim was shifted to the Civil Hospital where he died during treatment. The MLO said that Zakir had been shot twice while Fahim once. Fahim was hit in the leg, but he bled so profusely that he lost his struggle for survival.
According to the police Zakir had been a carpenter while Fahim a motorcycle mechanic running a shop in New Karachi. Fahim had gone to see Zakir in PIB Colony on Saturday when the unidentified criminals kidnapped them and took them to an unknown place where they tortured and shot them.
In another case, Ameebrullah, 22, was gunned down early Sunday morning near Bader Chowk in Orangi Town. Police said that upon being intimated, they went to the spot and found the young man lying dead while a boy, who was later identified as the deceased’s brother, was weeping near the body.
The young boy identified his brother as Ameerullah. Police also recovered empty shells of a 9mm pistol from the spot. Mohammed Anwer, brother of the deceased, said they had been residents of Frontier Colony No III and were labourers.
They were on their way home from a wedding ceremony early Sunday morning when two armed men riding on a motorcycle intercepted them at Bader Chowk. They initially hit Ameerullah with a butt of pistol, but they opened fire on him when he attempted to escape.
The deceased was a supporter of the ANP. Akmal, 30, was gunned down on Sunday morning in his house in Sector-5J of New Karachi while he was asleep. The deceased was a fruit vendor.
