RAWALPINDI: SP Rural Waheed–ur–Rehman Khattak has directed Station House Officer Police Station Saddar Bairooni Suhail Zafar to file a case against the swindlers who grabbed money from an innocent citizen on the pretext of setting up a business and later refused to return his money, hurling threats of dire consequences. The SP issued these instructions while conducting inquiry, which has been assigned by City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher, in the complaint of the victim citizen.
Khattak also recommended strict departmental action against the police officials of PS Saddar Bairooni who did not entertain the complainant despite passage of four months.
According to details, Iftikhar Zulfiqar son of Zulfiqar Ismail, hails from Rah-e-Sakoon Adyala Road, appeared before CPO Azhar Hameed Khokher on March 27, 2012 and filed an application in which he stated that one Muhammad Hafeez, son of Muhammad Raffique (late), took Rs 325,000 cash from him in May 2010 to invest the amount in vegetable business on condition of sharing profit. He mentioned that neither Hafeez gave him the profit nor returned his amount.
He stated that he approached PS Saddar Bairooni officials for justice but Sub Inspector (SI) Muhammad Riaz demanded Rs 50,000 as bribe from him to get return his amount from Hafeez. He mentioned that upon his refusal SI Riaz shelved the case without any investigation, adding when SHO Suhail Zafar was informed about the matter he also did not redress his grievance rather humiliated him in a bid to teach him a lesson for leaking the matter of bribe to media.
Taking advantage of police negligence, Iftikhar added Hafeez along his brother Naveed and four unidentified accomplices entered his home forcefully at 10:00 p.m. on 9/2/2012 and Hafeez whipped out his pistol threatening him to not demand the money or else he would kill him and his family. He said that he rushed to PS and filed an application with SI Shehzad Shamim, but, SI also misplaced the application apparently on the nod of SHO.
Iftikhar appealed CPO to provide him with justice. CPO, taking notice, assigned inquiry to SP Rural Waheed–ur–Rehman Khattak to probe into the allegation levelled by the citizen against police officials.
The SP called the complainant and SIs Muhammad Riaz and Shehzad Shamim and probed the matter in detail.
On the findings of the inquiry, SP ordered SHO PS Saddar Bairooni to register a case against the accused immediately whereas recommended strict departmental action against the officials of PS Saddar Bairooni for showing negligence in providing justice to the citizen.
