Karachi: Police rescue injured ‘bandit’ from mob’s wrath
KARACHI: An alleged bandit was injured in a police encounter in Shah Lateef Town police limits following which a mob started beating the suspect and blocked the National Highway on Wednesday. However, a police party managed to rescue the injured bandit from the clutches of the mob.
According to police, two armed men, riding a motorcycle, were robbing cash and mobile phones from the employees of a textile mill, when two cops, patrolling on a motorcycle, reached the spot and challenged the gunmen. Upon seeing the police, the robbers opened fire and a shootout took place during which one of the robbers sustained injuries while his accomplice managed to flee the scene.
In the meantime, some residents of the area gathered there and started beating the injured suspect. The cops immediately informed their police station, following which the SHO took his police party to the spot.
The area people also blocked the National Highway, demanding of the police to hand over the injured bandit to them. However, the police assured them that the robber would be taken to task as per the law, after which the mob dispersed peacefully. The injured robber identified as Wahid Baloch was taken to the JPMC for treatment. His absconding accomplice was named as Arshed Baloch.
