Lahore: Kidnapped girls were at hotel with paramours
LAHORE: Deputy Inspector General Major (R) Mubashir Ullah Khan has established in his inquiry of the police misbehavior case that both girls, who were reportedly kidnapped by police, had willingly visited their paramours at a hotel in Shadman. “These girls along with their paramours were arrested by Shadman police from rooms 105&106 around 2:00pm, shortly after a TV reporter informed police concerned about the anti-social activities,” the Punjab Police spokeswoman told reporters.
She said that the girls, hailing from Sharaqpur, had come to the City on April 2nd, to visit their cousin. The two had gone to meet their friends at the Racecourse Park, from where they went to a local hotel and rented two separate rooms. She said that the hotel records show that the rooms were booked with the names of Yasir and Atif. Quoting the findings of the DIG’s report, the spokeswoman further said that both couples were arrested from the hotel rooms and were taken to the police station concerned.
Later, one Muhammad Shahzad, a driver of Civil Defence Department, wearing a T-Shirt of Muhafiz Squad reached the police station to visit his friend – Sub Inspector Muhammad. “The aforesaid SI sent a police constable Ishaq with Shahzad to withdraw money from the accounts of the arrested boys from a local ATM so that the issue should be settled with the police team,” she added.
Police sources said that instead of releasing the arrested couple after receiving illegal gratification, the Shadman police booked them in an FIR and made their arrest on which the issue became more twisted. The IGP Focal Person said that police teams were collecting necessary evidences from local hotel and ATM so that other facts could be established accordingly.
Police have lodged an FIR against two constables Muhammad Ishaq and Sher Afzal, Motors Transport Punjab driver Ghaffar Ahmed and Civil Defence driver Muhmamad Shahzad and have also arrested three of them. Further investigations are underway.
