Quetta: 2 women among 4 killed in shootings
QUETTA: Four people, including two women were killed in two separate incidents of firing in Naseerabad and Jhal Magsi districts, on Sunday. In the first incident, two people were killed and another wounded in an armed clash between two groups in Gott Behram Buledi of Tehsil Dera Murad Jamali area of Naseerabad. The deceased were identified as Pahind Khan and Altaf Hussain while the injured had been identified as Bakshal Jakarani.
The cause of the clash is stated to be a tribal feud. In the second incident, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on two women in village Khan Kot of Jhal Magsi. As a result, the women were killed and another person sustained injuries. The assailants fled from the scene after the crime. Levies Force personnel moved the bodies to hospital for autopsy and later handed them to their heirs. The women are said to be killed in the name of honour.
Meanwhile, a partial shutter down strike was observed in Quetta and some other towns of Balochistan on Sunday against the killing of Maulana Muhammad Qasim Sasoli, an Imam belonging to the Jamiat Ulema–e–Pakistan (Noorani group), who was shot dead on Sariab Road on Friday. Jamiat Ulema–e–Pakistan has given the strike call. In Quetta, business centers, markets and business activities remained closed on Sariab Road, Joint Road, Brewery Road and some others areas, however, markets and shops remained opened on Jinnah Road, Liaquat Bazaar and Shara–e–Iqbal. Some protestors burnt tyres on Sariab Road and blocked the road for traffic to protest the killing.
They demanded immediate arrest of murders of Maulana Muhammad Qasim. Strike was also observed in other towns of Balochistan, including Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Jaffarabad and Naseerabad where business community responded positively to the strike call and brought business activities to a standstill. Heavy contingents of law enforcement agencies were deployed to avoid any untoward incidents.
