Sargodha: Murder accused guns down sister
SARGODHA: A person gunned down his sister, injured nephew and three passers-by in tehsil Sahiwal. Sakina, wife of Ijaz and a resident of Chah Malik Wala Sahiwal, along with her son Muhammad Ijaz was proceeding towards the office of investigation officer to give statements against her brother Mumtaz in a murder case, in the early hours of Saturday.
When they reached at main road, Mumtaz intercepted and shot at them. Resultantly Sakina breathed her last on the spot whereas her son Ijaz and three passers-by Ghulam Baqar, Ansar Abbas and Zawar Hussain sustained severe bullet injuries. The accused managed to escape. On information a Sahiwal police party reached the scene and shifted the wounded and the dead body to the THQ Hospital Sahiwal.
Five prayer leaders booked: Cases were registered against five prayer leaders or Khateebs of different mosques for violating Amplifier Act in the district. Sadder Bhalwal, Sadder Sargodha, Bhagtanwala and Atta Shaheed police booked Ghulam Raza, the Khateeb of Jamia Mosque Chak–10/ML, Muhammad Bashir Haqqani of Jamia Mosque Chak-109/SB, Qari Abdul Rauf of Jamia Mosque Chak-24/SB, Moulana Zafar Mehmood of Jamia Mosque Chak–23/SB and Hafiz Abdus Samee of Jamia Mosque Pull-111 while they were delivering speeches by using loud speakers in violation of the provisions of Amplifier Ordinance 1965. The Police have registered separate cases against them and confiscated amplifier appliances.
