Lahore: Woman, daughter killed for ‘honour’
LAHORE: At least four people, including two women, were murdered in three different incidents in various parts of the City, police said on Monday. In the first incident, a scrap dealer forced entry into the house of his brother; shot dead his 50–year–old sister-in-law (Bhabi) and her young daughter in Kahna area and fled away.
The motive behind the double–murder is yet to be ascertained. However, the police sources claimed that the man killed the woman for ‘honour’. The police said that Makhdoom Hussain along with his accomplices forced his entry into the house of Suraya Bibi, situated in Halloki village, in Kahna police area. He exchanged harsh words with Suraya Bibi and later opened fire at her. In a fit of anger, he also shot his 25–year–old, mother-of-three, niece Maafia Bibi.
The killer managed to escape from the crime scene. The police have removed the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating. In another incident, two motorcyclists gunned down a 70–year–old man in Sundar police area and fled away. Police said that the deceased, identified as Younis Khan, was on his way home when the motorcyclists intercepted him near Maraka bus-stop. They shot Khan dead and escaped from the scene. The police later reached the spot and removed the dead body to the morgue for an autopsy.
The motive behind the murder of Younis Khan, the father of eight, is also not clear to the police. The police have registered the case and are investigating with no arrest made so far. Meanwhile, a 28–year–old youth was found tortured to death from Nawab Town police vicinity on Monday morning. Police said that the man, yet to be identified, was lying dead with serious injuries to his body alongside a road near Masjid Gulab Khan, in Johar Town area.
