4 gunned down in Quetta
QUETTA: Target–killing continued to rear its ugly head in the provincial capital Thursday, as four persons, including a prominent social worker, were shot dead at point–blank range. According to police reports, unknown motorcyclists shot dead a well-known social worker in the Shaldara area. Abdul Jabbar Khilji was on his way home when armed men sprayed him with bullets, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene. The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, in Liaquat Bazaar, two unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on an ice cream shop located in the heart of Quetta’s busiest shopping area just as the owner and employees were closing the parlour.
Eyewitness sources maintain that the attackers opened indiscriminate fire with their lethal automatic weapons, seriously injuring three persons. The injured — Noor Muhammad and Ahmed Ali — sustained multiple bullet wounds and breathed their last while being shifted to CMH Quetta.
In another target killing incident only half an hour earlier on Shahra–e-Iqbal, unknown armed motorcyclists opened fire and shot dead the owner of a tea store and injured another. The deceased was identified as Sakhi Dad, and the injured was shifted to the Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, over a dozen employees of a local construction company were kidnapped in Sui. According to sources, unidentified armed men whisked away employees engaged in construction work to an unknown destination. Further investigation is currently underway.
