2 more killed in Karachi
KARACHI: Two people, including a supporter of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement(MQM), were killed here late on Saturday night. Junaid, 25, was shot dead while three others were injured in the Aziz Bhatti police limits. SDPO Nazeer Abro of New Town division said that the incident occured near a park situated opposite Baitul Mukaram Masjid, late on Saturday night. The youngsters of the locality were playing night cricket, during which unidentified armed men in a car opened indiscriminate fire upon the youngsters and fled.
The youngsters immediately took the injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where during treatment Junaid succumbed to his injuries, while three others Asif, Hashim and Asim were critical.
The deceased received four bullet wounds on various parts of his body, while the three injured were also received multiple wounds. The police found empty casings of big and small weapons from the crime scene.
Junaid was a supporter of the MQM. Sources said that the incident seems to be a target killing case. A case was reported at the police station.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man between 25–30 years of age was shot dead near Schon Circle in the Clifton police limits.
SHO Asif Jakhrani of Clifton police station said that, on receipt of information, he along with his staff immediately rushed to the spot where the young man was lying dead near a motorcycle. The police shifted the dead to the JPMC.
He added that the police had not found any identification card from the pocket of the deceased person. According to witnesses, the deceased was riding on his motorcycle when unidentified armed men in a car opened fire and fled. They were now trying to identify the deceased via the registration number of the motorcycle.
Meanwhile, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Dilshad was shot at in the Arambagh police limits. SHO Minhaj said that the incident happened near Shaheen Complex late on Saturday night. Acting on information, they immediately rushed to the place and shifted the injured man to the JPMC.
He added that the injured was identified as ASI Dilshad of CID Civil Lines and was heading towards his home in the Baghdadi area when two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire and fled. ASI Dilshad received a single bullet wound on his face and he was declared out of danger. A case was reported and investigation is under way.
