Karachi: School principal among 3 killed
KARACHI: Three people, including a school principal and a mother of three, were killed in separate incidents in the city on Friday. The body of Samina, wife of Rehan, was found near the Majid Laws in the Husainabad area. SHO Haseeb of the Azizabad police station told The News that after being called to the scene, a police team took the body of the woman, who was wearing a veil, to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. After a post–mortem, the body was taken to the Edhi mortuary in Sohrab Goth.
The SHO said that at 2pm a man, Rehan, a resident of Block 3 of Azizabad, visited the police station to lodge a complaint about his wife, Samina, who had been missing since the morning. Rehan said his wife left home as per routine at 7:30am to drop their younger daughter, Sana, 7, at school but did not return.
SHO Haseeb said that on being shown a picture of the dead woman, Rehan identified her as his wife and broke down. The police then handed over the body to the man. Haseeb added that they also visited the school where the watchman informed the police that the woman left for home after dropping her daughter. He said it seemed that on her way back unidentified people kidnapped her, tortured her and dumped her body after shooting her dead.
Rehan informed the police that he had no enmity with anyone. In a separate incident, Iftekhar Rasheed, 38, was shot dead at Rasheed Public School in Sector 8 of Baldia Town.
Police said that acting on information they rushed to the school where scared children and teachers told them that armed men had killed the principle of the 120–yard school. The police sent the children home.
Iftekhar was found dead in his chair. The watchman told the police that he had not seen any person entering the school but he heard a gunshot, and found the principal dead on entering his office. The corpse was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a post–mortem.
The police found a shell of a TT pistol lying outside a window of the principle’s office. The police sent the bullet and blood samples to the Sindh Police Lab for forensic testing. The victim was a resident of Sector 4 of Baldia Town and, according to the family, they had no enmity with anyone.
In yet another incident, Akal Khan, 55, was killed while his nephew Mujeebur Rehman injured in the Zaman Town police limits. SHO Dilawer Jokhio said that incident happened on the main road in Sector–51C of Korangi at about 8:30am.
The police found a car damaged with firearms and Khan and Rehman were lying injured inside the car. The police with the help of rescue teams carried the injured to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Khan was pronounced dead while Mujeeb was in a critical condition.
The police had also found empty shells of TT pistols from the spot. Khan suffered three bullet wounds to various parts of his body, while Mujeeb received two bullet wounds.
Khan was a resident of Ali Mohammed Khaskheli Goth, Ibrahim Hyderi, and deputy manager at Millat Factory. He was heading for work in his car with his nephew when they were targeted, SHO Jokhio said and added that the victim had been involved in several disputes and also had an enmity with a group.
