3 more shot dead in Quetta
QUETTA: Amid additional deployment of law enforcement agencies’ personnel, Quetta still witnessed two reported incidents of targeted attacks on Monday in which three persons were shot dead while the fourth one survived. Police said that Sulman Ali was shot dead when unknown armed men riding a motorcycle barged into his tyres shop on Kawari Road. The armed men sprayed bullets on Ali, using lethal automatic weapons, killing him instantly and fled from the scene.
On being informed, police and officials of the administration reached the spot and shifted the deceased to the CMH. The incident created tension in Quetta and panic gripped several parts of the city. Shopkeepers closed their shops on different roads as soon as the news of the killing was aired on the electronic media.
In protest against the fresh incident of target killing, people belonging to the Hazara community staged a protest at the Bacha Khan Chowk and demanded that the government step down as it had failed to provide security to citizens.
The protesters burnt tyres and chanted slogans against the government. They remarked that the government was not fulfilling its promise, made on Sunday last, that it would utilise all available resources to provide security to the people.
In another incident, a taxi driver from the Hazara community was on his way to Spini road when unknown armed men attacked the vehicle with modern weapons. The driver remained unhurt in the attack.
The city also witnessed heavy deployment of the Frontier Corps (FC) and police on Monday, following the directives of the Balochistan government that 10 additional platoons of the FC be deployed on all important roads and sensitive places to maintain law and order. The FC personnel also kept patrolling the city.
Meanwhile, the Balochistan government has imposed a ban on the sale and purchase of tinted glasses. The police and law enforcement agencies launched action against vehicles with tinted glasses and removed the glasses from dozens of vehicles.
Online adds: Two motorcyclists were shot dead by unknown persons near the Northern Bypass here Monday. According to the police, Abdul Ghani and Allah Dad were going home on a motorcycle in the jurisdiction of new Saryab Road near the Northern Bypass when unknown persons opened fire on them. The two died on the spot and their bodies were rushed to Civil Hospital for autopsy. They were then handed over to their families after completion of legal formalities.
