Karachi: Cops testify in MQM man’s murder case
KARACHI: Two policemen recorded their statements on Thursday before District and Sessions Judge (South) Hasan Feroz, who is the Inquiry Officer (IO) for the judicial probe into a double–murder that occurred in Peer Illahi Bux Colony (PIB) in March. The provincial government had appointed Hasan Feroz as IO to reveal the facts behind the attack, in which a senior activist of the Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM), Mansoor Mukhtar, and his brother Masood, were gunned down in their residence in PIB Colony.
Masood’s wife had also been injured in the attack. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khadim Hussain Rinad and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Chaudhry Idress gave details of the preparation of an inquest report, the recording of a statement of the complaint and the occurrence of violent incidents in the area.
ASI Idrees testified that he had prepared an inquest report under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code and had lodged a First Information Report (FIR) after recording the complaint. SSP East Khadim Hussain Rind, whose evidence was presented in the previous hearing, further recorded his statement on the violent incidents that had taken place in his jurisdiction. He also provided copies of about 20 First Information Reports (FIRs).
