Karachi: Kidnappers arrested, hostage recovered
KARACHI: The Anti–Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) on Sunday claimed to have arrested from Yousuf Goth the mastermind of an inter-provincial gang of criminals involved in kidnapping for ransom. They also recovered an abducted person for whose release the criminals had demanded ransom. His two accomplices were arrested from Balochistan. The AVCC team conducted a raid at the Yousuf Goth are of the city and arrested the mastermind of the gang identified as Wakeel Ahmed Kakar. A 19–year boy Arshad Ali Khan son of Khursheed Ali Khan was recovered, who had been kidnapped on March 25 this year.
The kidnappers had demanded 200,000 US dollars for the release of hostage and ordered to pay the ransom in Kachlak area of Balochistan. They however settled the deal for Rs1million and called the relatives of hostage to Yousuf Goth.
The two accomplices of arrested kidnapper were in the Kachlak area of Balochistan from where they too were arrested by the police. The arrested criminals include Muhammad Qasim Norzai and Abdul Karim Kakar.
The initial interrogation has revealed that they used to kidnap people in Karachi and receive the ransom in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and even in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, another AVCC team arrested two street criminals at National Highway in the Shah Latif Town area.
The Specialized Investigation Unit (SIU) also arrested seven accused in three actions and recovered 7 pistols, 20 bullets. The arrested accused include Mudasir, Owais, Muhammad Ramazan, Bilal Hussain, Muhammad Siddique and others.
